Felisha Herrera Villarreal, PhD is Assistant Professor of Community College Leadership. Dr. Herrera Villarreal is a community college researcher who examines institutional structures, processes, and policies, with a specific emphasis on promoting postsecondary outcomes for students of color. Her work encompasses several strands of scholarship including student mobility; pathways for underrepresented students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), and a critical examination of policies issues related to diversity & equity in education.  Dr. Herrera is a consummate scholar, who has been published in top-tier, peer-reviewed journals, including: The Review of Higher Education, the American Educational Research Journal, and the Journal of Student Affairs Research and Practice. With over 13 years of experience as a higher education professional, Dr. Herrera Villarreal has held administrative positions within both two- and four-year institutions including most recently as an Administrator for Diversity Initiatives in the UNM Office of the Vice President of Equity and Inclusion. Prior to joining the faculty at SDSU in Fall of 2015, Dr. Herrera Villarreal served as an Assistant Professor of Community College Leadership at Oregon State University since 2012.
