Elementary Education Emphasis - Science Focus

On this page: Learn about the elementary education emphasis with a focus on science education.

Note: The following information applies to Liberal Studies majors entering the program in catalog year 2014 and later. If you began your studies during catalog years 2011-13, find guidance on completing your degree.

About the Science Focus

Students who choose the Science Focus learn to think like scientists as they build breadth and depth in their subject area, gaining knowledge in earth, life, and physical science.  These students will be able to obtain a multiple subject credential to teach elementary school.

The Science Focus also provides pathways to middle school science teaching. Because certified science teachers are in demand, a Science Focus may give new teachers a hiring advantage.
