Summer Abroad

On this page: Learn about the Summer Abroad option for Liberal Studies majors.

Program Details

Summer programs are 2 to 8 weeks in duration.

These generally work best for Liberal Studies students who have completed their sophomore or junior years, but some Liberal Studies students may be eligible to go earlier.

Start planning as a freshman!

Liberal Studies and Other Programs

Some of the summer programs are run by the Liberal Studies department, taught by Liberal Studies professors, and are created specifically for Liberal Studies students. Others are recommended because of their specific focus on Education, and/or course content that can be applied directly to the Liberal Studies major requirements.

Sylvia Oliveros: Summer in Spain

"Studying abroad for a month in Spain was a fantastic decision!

"A typical day in Ávila started with classes. In one course, I studied culture and civilization.

"In another course, I went on a poetic adventure that ranged from Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz to Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer.

"These were fascinating courses that left a profound effect on me, not only because of the content presented, but also because I was completely immersed in the education system of my host country.

"When I was not studying, I explored the beautiful area, savoring the sights, sounds, and tastes of Spain!"
