New Members Elected to SDSU Research Foundation
Each will serve three-year term guiding university research objectives
The SDSU Research Foundation has elected three new members to serve on its board of directors. Joining the existing board are Paula Brock, chief financial officer of the Zoological Society of San Diego; Arthur Ellis, vice chancellor for research at UCSD; and Marilyn Newhoff, dean of the College of Health and Human Services at SDSU.

Paula Brock, San Diego Zoo
The SDSU Research Foundation Board of Directors is responsible for guiding the organization to meet its research objectives through policy setting and program oversight.
Each will serve a three-year term.
• Paula Brock - Brock oversees the financial management of the not-for-profit organization that operates the San Diego Zoo, San Diego Wild Animal Park and Center for Reproduction of Endangered Species. Brock received her bachelor of science degree with honors from San Diego State University.
• Prior to joining UCSD as vice chancellor for research in 2006, Dr. Arthur Ellis served as the director of the National Science Foundation’s Division of Chemistry. As vice chancellor for research at UCSD, Dr. Ellis manages the Office of Research Affairs and is responsible for research compliance, contracts and grants, and technology transfer. His current work is leading UCSD initiatives on sustainability, stem cell research and research cyber infrastructure through formation of partnerships.
• Marilyn Newhoff, dean of SDSU’s College of Health and Human Services, is an internationally known scholar in the normal and disordered aspects of both child and adult language. Newhoff is currently a fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and was the founding editor of the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology.

The SDSU Research Foundation is a non-profit, auxiliary organization that was established in 1943 with the purpose of furthering the educational, research and community service objectives of San Diego State University. Using awarded grants, the Foundation financially supports current SDSU research projects and the development of new ones.
