It all started last season with basketball's run to the Sweet 16, with the student section chanting "I believe that we will win" before every game in Viejas Arena.
The chant served as the inspiration for the new San Diego State television commercial that features Aztecs from across the region.
Showcasing the Aztec faithful
Shot throughout the county, the spot includes San Diegans repeating parts of the chant. Building energy along the way, the commercial features famous Aztecs such as Ralph Rubio and Mayor Jerry Sanders. The final shot shows hundreds of Aztec faithful coming together in front of iconic Hepner Hall, marching and chanting, “I believe that we will win!”
The “I Believe” TV spot is the first to feature SDSU’s new tagline: “Leadership Starts Here.” Watch a behind-the-scenes video here.
Look for it on TV and online
It debuted during the Sept. 17 football game against Washington State and will be shown during future televised sporting events, among other programming.
With less than a week online, the commercial has already become the most popular video on the SDSU YouTube channel with more than 7,200 views.
