California Western School of Law presented San Diego State University Provost Nancy A. Marlin with an honorary doctor of laws degree on Monday, Dec. 19, in recognition of her contributions to the law school as a member of the Board of Trustees. Marlin has served as a California Western trustee since 2002.
One of three trustees honored
Marlin was one of three trustees to be honored at the law school’s annual fall commencement ceremonies, held at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. M. Boone Hellman, University of California San Diego campus architect, and Nevada trial attorney J. Randall Jones also received honorary doctor of laws degrees.

Among the more than 60 California Western graduates receiving a juris doctor degree was Dwayne Crenshaw, who served as President of the Associated Students of San Diego State University in 1992-1993. Crenshaw was presented with his doctoral hood by another AS president and California Western alumnus, professor Robert De Koven, who served in 1979-1980.
A.I.M. for Law partnership
California Western and San Diego State University enjoy a close relationship, sponsoring a joint J.D./MSW degree and the “A.I.M. for Law” program, which allows SDSU sophomores to meet with law students and practicing attorneys with the goal of diversifying the legal profession.
