SDSU students and contractors took part in a service event organized by H3: Healing our Heroes’ Homes, a branch of San Diego-based non-profit organization Embrace, Dec. 10 at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Seventy-five individuals took part in the Embrace-led event to complete a home makeover for Marine veteran Sgt. Jason Swofford, who was injured by a bomb in Afghanistan.
Marcus Ziemke, a SDSU graduate student and veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, was one of the 50 students who volunteered with Embrace to help Swofford and his family.
“The world is changing, and not always for the better,” said Ziemke. “It’s a good thing to have these opportunities to go out and help people in need.”
