The Resident Education program provides free room and board for the position.
The Office of Residential Education seeks motivated full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty (or equivalent) to participate in the Faculty-in-Residence Program.
Faculty-in-Residence plays an integral role in helping student residents grow and succeed academically. As members of the SDSU Residential Education team, the program provides a connection between in-classroom and out-of-classroom learning.
Faculty members in the program serve as liaisons between students and faculty, and promote the intellectual stimulation of students living on campus. Faculty teach one section of the one-unit University Seminar course and work closely with the Residential Education staff to promote a culture of academic success, diversity and community in the residence halls.
In addition to the personal satisfaction that comes from enriching students' academic experience through programs and events, participants are provided with on-campus housing within the residence halls, a meal plan and gym membership to increase interactions with students.
Appointments are for one year and have a maximum term of three years. While the position is on a volunteer basis, the estimated annual equivalent value is about $15,000 to $18,000.
