San Diego State, KPBS and Associated Students ask members of the SDSU community to participate in the San Diego Pride Parade.

The parade is a part of the annual Pride Festival, which produces civic, cultural and educational programs to support pride within San Diego’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities.

The parade, which is the third largest gay pride parade in the country, begins at 11 a.m., July 21 in Balboa Park.

"The parade and festival bring attention to the historical struggle for gay civil rights and highlight the social justice work being done today," said Aaron Bruce, chief diversity officer at SDSU.

About the Pride Festival

The San Diego Pride Festival aims to foster pride and respect for all lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities, locally and globally.

Through a spirited and high-energy parade, various programs and a concert, the Pride Festival strives to provide a world free of prejudice and bias.
