Hilary Maiberger imbues her character with honesty, wit, intelligence and a huge capacity for love.
Barely four years after earning a music degree from SDSU, Hilary Maiberger has landed the role of a lifetime. She is cast as Belle in the NETworks touring production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast.”

Playing a larger-than-life heroine is hard work, according to Maiberger, but it’s also a hugely creative endeavor. “You can’t be afraid to try new things, to put yourself out there,” she said.
Maiberger learned about taking risks while at SDSU. Exceptional teachers strengthened her confidence while challenging music theory classes prepared her for the hard work to come, including appearances on the operatic stage.
A few of her starring roles to date include Jasmine in “Aladdin, The Musical Spectacular,” Kate in “Titanic the Musical” and Jo March in “Little Women,” one of her favorites.
“Who wouldn’t want to play Jo March, the symbol of a strong woman with passion and big dreams?” Maiberger asked.
As for Belle, every little girl’s heroine, Maiberger said she tries to imbue the character with honesty, wit, intelligence and a huge capacity for love.
NETworks’ “Beauty and the Beast” is scheduled to tour through April 21, 2013, with performances in Los Angeles March 26-April 7.
