This summer, San Diego State University Director of Music, Marian Liebowitz and Associate Professor of Music, Todd Rewoldt, will join 15 other faculty members from across the California State University system to teach accelerated programs in the arts.
The 2-week intensive programs, created by CSU faculty and administrators, are based at California State University Monterey Bay. They were developed to give graduate and undergraduate students the opportunity to immerse themselves in diverse areas of the arts in ways not possible during the traditional school year.
Liebowitz and Rewoldt will be teaching “Strictly Sax: Classical, Jazz and all things Saxophone
The "Strictly Sax" program will focus on techniques used by top jazz and classical soloists as well as career development strategies for professional musicians. It also features one-on-one instruction with legendary saxophone players.
“Because the saxophone is capable of such variety, it’s hard to study everything about it during one’s schooling,” Liebowitz said.
“If you put it all together in a 2-week saturation class, it provides students with the opportunity to immerse themselves and receive instruction from great performers in ways you just can’t get anywhere else.”
Other Courses offered include:
- Digital Documentary Photography and the Art of Seeing
- Observational Painting: Contemporary and Traditional Approaches to Landscape, Still Life and Portrait
- DreamWorks Animation
- Acting and Emotional Expression
