Leilani Münter is a lesson in contradiction — she's one of the world's best female race car drivers, but she's also an environmentalist.
"Never underestimate a vegetarian hippie chick with a race car."
But, she's found a balance to her personal and professional pursuits. For every race she's been in since 2007, Münter has purchased an acre of rainforest. Outside of racing, she is politically active and has visited Washington D.C. several times to speak on behalf of clean energy legislation.
Her motto easily summarizes who she is: "never underestimate a vegetarian hippie chick with a race car."
Münter's next speaking engagement will bring her to San Diego State, where she will deliver the GreenFest keynote address at 4 - 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center. The event is free and open to the public.
She will also be in attendance at the GreenFest Green Lunch Bag Series held at noon in Scripps Cottage. The event will feature an organic vegan lunch. It is also free and open to the public.
Presented by Associated Students of SDSU, GreenFest is a week of events that encourages, celebrates and advocates for sustainability, Aztec pride and diversity. The purpose of GreenFest is to engage the campus community through social and interactive programs in an effort to educate them on the importance of living a sustainable lifestyle and to promote sustainable practices.
