The Aztec Mentor Program will begin this fall.
The Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center.
SDSU Career Services has partnered with the Alumni Association to encourage involvement as an alumni mentor.
The Aztec Mentor Program begins fall 2013 and is especially designed for participation by seniors who are in their last semester. The program is aligned with the “Leadership Starts Here” commitments of San Diego State University and the university’s strategic “Building on Excellence” plan.
As a mentor, participants will spend eight to 12 hours over the course of one semester with a student mentee. The goal is to offer feedback, help him/her make connections between this experience and their academic learning, answer industry-specific questions and provide professional advice on career pathways and other career-related issues drawn from your own experiences.
Mentor benefits include:
- Opportunity to give back to SDSU by mentoring a student
- Exposure to graduates as potential employee
- The chance to develop closer links with SDSU
- Development of coaching, mentoring and professional development skills
How it works
Each student will select and request the mentor from SDSU Career Services’ online database Aztec Career Connection that best matches his or her career objectives.
Mentoring pairs develop their partnerships through face-to-face interactions, electronic communication, telephone conversations and other media such as Skype, and Face Time.
