Public Health Lecture Oct. 11

The need for social justice to advance public health will be the focus of a national expert’s Oct. 11 presentation on campus.

A national health leader will give a presentation titled, “Science, Practice and Ethics: Meeting the Challenge of Disparities in the 21st Century,” Thursday, Oct. 11.

The presentation by Robert G. Robinson, former associate director for health equity for the Center for Disease Control’s smoking and health office, will begin at 2 p.m. in the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center ballroom. The event is free and open to the public.

About Robinson

Robinson developed Pathways to Freedom, a national program to lessen tobacco use among African Americans.  He also chaired the National Black Leadership Initiative on Cancer.  He has built several national public health programs targeting underserved communities.

San Diego State University’s global health program, the Graduate School of Public Health and the Office of the President sponsored the lecture.
