New San Diego Padres owners Ron Fowler and Peter Seidler spoke to nearly 180 members of the community along with SDSU students, faculty and staff at San Diego State University.
As part of SDSU’s Lavin Entrepreneurship Center’s Business Forum 2013 Speaker Series, the Jan. 15 event marked the first time the two owners appeared at a public event together since they acquired the Padres.

Fowler, the recently-named executive chairman of the Padres, and Seidler opened the discussion with an overview how they and their partners strategized for and went through with the purchase of the team.
Seidler, a member of baseball’s legendary O’Malley family, spoke about the joys of working with his brothers and cousins who are also a part of the ownership group.
Fowler discussed the ongoing issue of getting broader television coverage in the local market.
Both partners elaborated on the Padres’ commitment to the San Diego community and their goal of building a winning team. One of their greatest efforts is to bring a Major League Baseball All-Star game back to San Diego for the first time since 1992.
