San Diego State University’s Biomedical Technology Students Association invites students interested in science, technology, engineering and math related careers to attend the STEM Employer Panel.
A Wealth of Experience
Speakers from locally-based companies including Pfizer Global, Tandem Diabetes Care, Metron and Brightscope will share their experiences and offer advice for real world success. After the panel discussion, there will be a Q&A session followed by networking opportunities.
“This is a great way for people to learn about internships, network with employers, and discover career opportunities in fields they may not have considered,” said Paul Fryling, president of BTSA and SDSU bioinformatics master’s student.
• Michael Zager, Ph.D., from the global research and development arm of Pfizer, the world's largest research-based pharmaceutical company.
• Nick Turner, a software engineer from Tandem Diabetes Care, a company dedicated to advancing the management of diabetes through novel technologies.
• Jason Yates, chief technology officer of BrightScope, a financial information company.
• Michael Atamian, Ph.D., division manager (chemistry) of Metron, a scientific consulting company specializing in issues related to national defense.
Registration and information
The STEM Employer Panel will be held at 1 p.m. on February 21 in the Donald P. Shiley Bioscience Center’s Gold Auditorium.
Seating is limited and registration is encouraged. Register online through the Aztec Career Connection.
Fryling said this won't be the last STEM Employer Panel. “The BTSA plans to host experienced professionals and visit local companies throughout the year to strengthen the relationship between the industry and SDSU.”
BTSA, a student-run organization that launched in 2011 is open to students from all majors. The group strives to enhance educational and professional opportunities and to foster personal growth and leadership among members.
