Faculty-in-Residence Positions Now Available

As members of the SDSU Residential Education team, faculty-in-residence provide a connection between in-classroom and out-of-classroom learning.

The Office of Residential Education seeks motivated full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty to participate in the Faculty-in-Residence program.

Faculty-in-Residence plays an integral role in helping student residents grow and succeed academically. As members of the SDSU Residential Education team, FIR provides a connection between in-classroom and out-of-classroom learning.

Benefits of FIR positions

Faculty members in the program serve as liaisons between students and faculty, and promote the intellectual stimulation of students living on campus.

Faculty teach one section of the one-unit University Seminar course and work closely with the Residential Education staff to promote a culture of academic success, diversity and community in the residence halls.

In addition to the personal satisfaction that comes from enriching students' academic experience through programs and events, faculty-in-residence participants are provided with on-campus housing within the residence halls, a meal plan and gym membership to increase interactions with students.

Appointments are for one year and have a maximum term of three years. While the FIR position is a volunteer position, the estimated annual equivalent value is approximately $15,000 to $18,000.
