San Diego State University and the work of its students, faculty and staff are regularly featured in news stories by media around the country. Each week SDSU’s Marketing and Communications team curates some of its favorite local, regional and national media clips to share with the SDSU community.

Before SDSU broke ground on the new Engineering and Interdisciplinary Sciences Complex, President Elliot Hirshman and Stephen Welter, vice president for research and dean of graduate affairs, sat down with The San Diego Union-Tribune to talk about how the complex will move SDSU toward its aspiration of becoming one of the nation’s top 50 research universities.

Aaron Bruce, SDSU’s Chief Diversity Officer, was interviewed by Huffington Post for a story about International Education Week, which is coming up Nov. 16 to 20. In the story, Bruce shares his take on the value of study abroad for students all over the country.

ECHECKUP to GO, a web-based program designed by counselors and psychologists at SDSU to help combat problem drinking on college campuses, was highlighted in Psychology Today as a tool that could help reduce alcohol abuse among high school juniors and seniors, a group that has the highest high school drinking rates.

Broadway World announced that SDSU's MFA musical theatre program and La Jolla Playhouse are collaborating on new musical called "On the Eve." SDSU musical theatre professors Stephen Brotebeck and Robert Meffe will direct and provide musical direction.

President Hirshman also sat down with San Diego Jewish World as part of a series profiling unique and prominent Jews who live and work off Interstate 8.
