Faculty have a new campus destination when seeking a comfortable place to work alone or in collaboration with others.

Instructional Technology Services has reinvented the Faculty Room (AH 1109) as the Faculty Instructional Technology (FIT) Center. All SDSU instructors are invited to come by starting August 24th and see the changes we’ve made. Feel free to bring coffee and a snack when you use the FIT Center!

Serving as a resource

In keeping with the long-standing tradition of Faculty Room service, the FIT Center will continue to serve faculty looking for technology resources and assistance while creating materials for instructional use, professional presentations and non-funded research and publication. The new FIT Center will also serve as a hub for faculty to meet individually or in small groups with each other, ITS staff, librarians and representatives of the Center for Teaching and Learning.  

In addition to the ITS staff who are always available to assist FIT Center users, a daily rotation of expert consultants from ITS and elsewhere (including fellow instructors) will facilitate hands-on informal workgroups on a variety of technologies and techniques directly related to teaching and learning. A regularly updated schedule of informal sessions is available here.

The FIT Center session schedule for the current and upcoming weeks will be available on SDSUniverse, once the semester begins. (Note: ITS will continue to offer workshops on the use of Blackboard, Wimba, clickers and other instructional technologies. That schedule will be published in SDSUniverse, as well.)

FIT Center Annex

The FIT Center Annex (AH 1113G) includes the equipment and software (PARScore) for machine-scored assessment formerly located in AH 1109. The FIT Center Annex also contains resources and assistance for faculty and staff developing instructional multimedia through the integration of materials such as videotapes, DVDs, CD-ROMs, and web-based materials.

7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday-Thursday during the fall semester (7:30 - 4:30 p.m. during summer and winter breaks)
7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Fridays during the fall semester
