4th Annual Common Experience International Photo Contest

This year's contest was a huge success! We had a record 168 photo and narrative submissions that fit this year's theme: Social Justice and Environmental Integrity: A Call to Service, “We've got to be willing to explore the unknown, challenge our own assumptions, shake up our expectations, and find new ways forward," (Ray C. Anderson, Confessions of a Radical Industrialist). We exhibited a selection of 48 top photos and narratives on Centennial Walkway during Family Weekend, September 24-25. View all five winning photos on the website listed above.

Annual Installation Reception

February 18, 2011, details to follow

Oxfam International predicts that global food prices will more than double in the next 20 years, pushing millions of people into poverty. Already, 1 in 7 people goes to bed hungry. Global climate change is producing more unpredictable weather patterns worldwide, reducing the ability of farmers to rely on a regular harvest. Does this signal an impending global food crisis? If so, who is most likely to be impacted by it and what can be done to avert it, or at least, lessen the impact? Can the world be fed organically, or will GMO's, pesticides, herbicides and/or fossil-fuel-derived fertilizer be necessary to maintain or increase productivity?

These are just a few of the questions that we will explore at our upcoming event, in conjunction with No Impact Week and Green Fest:
