Jorge Cuevas Antillón

Jorge Cuevas Antillón, M.A., M.Ed.,is the steward of, the home of the national and state language arts and math standards in Spanish. Jorge is a renown teacher professional development provider, curriculum writer and advocate for bilteracy, multilingualism and worldly responsibility. Jorge continually affirms his many inspirations: "I am passionate about teaching, especially reading, but also about social justice and generational responsibility. I have a commitment for improving the world, by what I do, how I treat others, by the legacy I leave behind through what I did, what I wrote and even what I ate, but most especially what I taught and demonstrated. After decades in public school education, as an elementary and high school teacher, as a teacher trainer, as a school and district administrator, as a graduate school university instructor, as a textbook author and as a school district grant writer and manager, I spent a few years founding a small business built on the principles of health for humans, compassion for animals and sustainability, which grew successful even as it maintained eco-friendly practices and ensured living wages for employees. Always I am conscious of the communal power to improve the lives of people and the planet. I retain my focused dedication to education even as I maintain the larger goal to foster a more healthy and compassionate world. Right now I am honored to be in the company of the brilliance of San Diego State University College of Education faculty to serve the diverse students and teachers of our community.”
