About NAISC

Photo: student group workshopThe Native American and Indigenous Scholars Collaborative (NAISC) supports the preparation of Master's level graduate students in school counseling and Specialist level graduate students in school psychology committed to serving Native American children with high incidence disabilities.

Working in cross-cultural urban field sites and in partnership with rural sites with high Native American populations, students learn and use specialized knowledge to differentiate difference from disability, and to help design, deliver, and evaluate culturally appropriate pedagogical, psychological, counseling, and intervention services.

All project students are accepted to one of 2 graduate programs in the Department of School Psychology or School Counseling.

The School Psychology Program

The School Psychology Program at SDSU is a nationally approved integrated 4-year (3-plus internship) full-time, graduate level professional program. Students earn an MA after their second year. The program culminates in the Ed.S. degree and California PPS-School Psychology credential.

 

The School Counseling Program

The School Counseling Program at SDSU consists of 2 years of full-time or 3 years of part-time graduate study. Students obtain the M.S. degree with a specialization in school counseling and the California PPS-School Counseling credential.
