Financial Support & Scholarships

 

NAISC Program Support

NAISC scholars receive significant financial support, enabling you to focus on your graduate studies in school counseling and school psychology.

Over the course of the year, through semester start-up stipends and monthly support stipends, each scholar receives approximately $17,000 in funding:

  • Semester start-up stipends help to cover fees, materials, books, professional liability insurance, parking pass, etc.
  • Monthly stipends help defray (not totally cover) cost of living expenses such as rent and food
  • A conference incentive stipend offsets airfare/ mileage, registration, hotel and per diem
  • Upon approval of your proposal, an immersion stipend
  • A one-time computer/ technology stipend
  • Required textbooks for the project will be purchased for you
  • A summer start-up stipend to help offset moving expenses/ support required summer coursework

The American Indians Committee of the DAR awards this scholarship to Native Americans and is intended to help Native American students of any age, any tribe and in any state striving to get an education.

The American Indians Committee of the DAR will award a $4,000 scholarship to help a Native American student of any age, any tribe, and in any state striving to get an education.

 

The AIGC & Choctaw Scholarship Advisement Program (SAP) Fellowship

The AIGC Choctaw SAP Fellowship is one of 3 multi-year graduate fellowships available to three Choctaw students (1 Master’s level)

Graduate level fellowships awarded to United States Federally-recognized American Indian and Alaskan Native community members (students) who are pursuing a graduate or professional level education.

To be considered, applicants must be pursuing a master, doctorate or professional degree as a full-time student at an accredited graduate or professional school in the United States and be able to demonstrate financial need.

 

BIE – Loan for Service

 $20,000 per year

 

Graduate level educational loan awarded to United States Federally-recognized American Indian and Alaska Native community members (students) pursuing graduate or professional level education.

To be considered, applicants must possess a minimum 3.0 GPA and be pursuing a master, doctorate or professional degree as a full-time student at an accredited graduate or professional school in the United States. Loan for Service recipients must agree to relocate, if necessary, to obtain acceptable employment for the service payback agreement.

 

Cobell Scholarship

Vocational, undergraduate, graduate or professional level scholarships awarded to U.S. Federally-recognized American Indian and Alaska Native community members (students) who are vocational certificate-seeking or a degree-seeking students in full-time accredited non-profit institutions in the United States; and who are able to demonstrate financial need.

 

Adolph van Pelt Scholarship

 $1,500 (paid directly to school)

 

Applicants must be full-time students and determination is based upon merit or need. This scholarship does not automatically renew. Students are eligible to apply on a yearly basis.

Enrolled and verified members of the following Indian Pueblos: Cochiti, Jemez, Sandia, and Santa Ana. Applications must be accompanied by an official transcript of the last school attended (high school/college). A letter of admission from an accredited college or university, 2 letters of recommendation, a certificate of Indian blood, a certificate of tribal verification, and a copy of the student's eligibility for a federal Pell Grant that shows financial need and that the applicant has exhausted all other possible sources of aid. 

 

American Indian Education Foundation Scholarship

Applicant Criteria: Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian (student or one parent must be enrolled and have documentation). Attending or have been accepted to an accredited graduate school (online colleges are not applicable, ABD not applicable). Must be enrolled between 6-18 credits (level of scholarship funding dependent on # of credits enrolled)  GPA between 2.5-3.5 is desirable.

Students pursuing a graduate degree at any eligible college  may apply for The American Indian College Fund Full Circle Scholarships. These scholarships are funded through our partnerships with various donors. These scholarships are administered by the American Indian College Fund and are generally based upon merit or demonstrated financial need.
