Early Arrival Request (Spring 2016)
Incoming spring residents are strongly encouraged to arrive on Opening Day, Monday, January 18, 2016. The residence hall opening dates are published well in advance to enable residents and families to plan their travel accordingly.
Residents who would like to arrive to campus prior to Opening Day must complete an Early Arrival License Agreement on their housing portal. Please be sure to read all of the following information before submitting the request, as there are important provisions and scheduling information. Prior arrangement for early arrival will ensure a smooth check-in to each student's assigned hall. You must complete an Early Arrival License Agreement by January 1st. Please note that you will be charged starting the day that keys are in your possession regardless if you occupy the room or not.
The Early Arrival License Agreement is ONLY available to residents assigned to residence halls that remain open over the breaks. If you anticipate needing to arrive early, be sure to indicate that you need Housing Over Breaks during the Living Choices section of the housing application.
Residents must meet one or more of these requirements in order to be eligible for Early Arrival:
- Attending the International Student Orientation Program
- Attending University-sponsored leadership activites
- Arriving early due to long distance flights
- Participating in athletic training
Earliest Move-In Date (Earliest Possible Move-In Date): Monday, January 11, 2016
Early Arrival Charge: $40/per day. The Early Arrival Charge will be billed to the student's account and will show on the Student Account Statement.
Requests should be made with at least ten (10) business days notice. Requests should be made with as much lead time as possible. It may not be possible to provide accommodations in cases where fewer than ten (10) business days notice are provided. If an early arrival is accommodated, residents should be aware that the room might not be fully cleaned or prepared to normal standards.
Meal plans are not activated until Wednesday, January 20, 2016. Residents who choose to arrive early will not be able to use a meal plan at any of the on-campus locations. Plan accordingly to have extra funds available for this period.
All requests are subject to assigned space availability. If the academic year space is not ready by the requested move-in date due to construction, or maintenance and housekeeping concerns, we may not be able to approve the request.
The Office of Housing Administration reserves the right to deny an early arrival due to administrative necessity. Approval for an Early Arrival Request is granted in writing. Verbal commitments are not valid. If an Early Arrival Request is approved, the resident will receive an email confirmation to the email address provided in the SDSU WebPortal account. Residents arriving early are responsible for retaining and presenting the written early arrival authorization upon arrival.
