Early Arrival Request (Fall 2014)
Incoming spring residents are strongly encouraged to arrive on Opening Day, Friday, August 22, 2014. The residence hall opening dates are published well in advance to enable residents and families to plan their travel accordingly.
Residents who would like to arrive to campus prior to Opening Day must fill out an Early Arrival Request form. Please be sure to read all of the following information before submitting the request, as there are important provisions and scheduling information. Prior arrangement for early arrival will ensure a smooth check-in to each student's assigned hall.
Early Arrival is ONLY available to residents assigned to residence halls that stay open over the breaks. If you anticipate needing to arrive early, be sure to indicate that you need Housing Over Breaks during the Living Choices section of the housing application.
Residents must meet one or more of these requirements in order to be eligible for Early Arrival:
- Attending the International Student Orientation Program
- Attending University-sponsored leadership activites
- Arriving early due to long distance flights
- Participating in athletic training
Earliest Move-In Date (Earliest Possible Move-In Date): Sunday, August 17, 2014
Early Arrival Charge: $35/per day. The Early Arrival Charge will be billed to the student's account and will show on the Student Account Statement.
Requests should be made with at least ten (10) business days notice. Requests should be made with as much lead time as possible. It may not be possible to provide accommodations in cases where fewer than ten (10) business days notice are provided. If an early arrival is accommodated with short notice, residents should be aware that the room might not be fully cleaned or prepared to normal standards.
Fill out the Early Arrival Request form and send it in to the Office of Housing Administration. Early Arrival Request forms may be mailed or faxed to the address or number listed on the right. Ensure you have dated and signed the form or it will not be accepted.
Meal plans are not activated until Friday, August 22, 2014. Residents who choose to arrive early will not be able to use a meal plan at any of the on-campus locations. Plan accordingly to have extra funds available for this period.
All requests are subject to assigned space availability. If the academic year space is not ready by the requested move-in date due to construction, summer housing needs, or maintenance and housekeeping concerns, we may not be able to approve the request.
The Office of Housing Administration reserves the right to deny an early arrival due to administrative necessity. Approval for an Early Arrival Request is granted in writing. Verbal commitments are not valid. If an Early Arrival Request is approved, the resident will receive an email confirmation to the email address provided in the SDSU WebPortal account. Residents arriving early are responsible for retaining and presenting the written early arrival authorization upon arrival.
