Community Outreach

Serving San Diego County’s diverse community is a principal mission of San Diego State University. As part of our rich history of community engagement and social justice, there are numerous organizations our students, faculty, staff and alumni contribute to on a regular basis. Service programs on campus and throughout the area help communities in the local region to thrive.

American Indian Recruitment Program
Created in 1993, at SDSU, the AIR Program was established to promote higher education and success in academics in the American Indian community. Offices located in Adams Humanities building rooms AH4162 and AH4163.
Super Sunday Banner
CSU Super Saturday partners the university with local community organizations and churches across California to get grade school, middle school, and high school students excited about the potential of going to college.
Compact for Success thumbnail
Partnering with the Sweetwater School District, Compact for Success has developed a guaranteed admissions program with San Diego State University.
Campus Pride
Campus Pride represents the only national nonprofit organization for student leaders and campus groups working to create a safer college environment for LGBT students.  
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR's) mission is to enhance understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims, and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding. 
Reality Changers
In 2010, SDSU partnered with Reality Changers, helping inner-city youth from disadvantaged backgrounds become first-generation college students.
Embrace Logo
Embrace is a non profit organization designed to connect SDSU students and other university volunteers to San Diego's diverse communities through service.
SDAFF logo
For several years SDSU has served as the official educational sponsor for the San Diego Asian Film Festival.
SD Latino Film Festival
SDSU serves as the proud educational sponsor of the San Diego Latino Film Festival.
City Heights Collaborative
Involving more than 100 faculty members from 40 departments in supporting families and educating children in one of San Diego’s most diverse neighborhoods.
Pre College Institute
Advancing pre-college education and the study of teaching and learning in multicultural settings, including GEAR UP and Upward Bound.
