    Join SDSU at the Pride Parade 

    Date: Saturday, July 13, 2013

    Time: 11:00 am (Check in between 9am and 10am)
    Location: The parade begins at University Ave. and Normal Street, proceeds west on University Avenue to 6th Avenue, turns south on 6th Avenue, ending at Balboa Drive and Upas Street.
    Route: 1.5 miles | 2 hours

    The Annual San Diego Pride Parade is the 4th largest in the United States and attracts over 200,000 spectators who will line the streets of Hillcrest to watch the contingents and floats go by. The parade will end in Balboa Park, site of the Pride Festival.

    SDSU Contingent – Everyone is Welcome

    Join SDSU President Elliot Hirshman, Acting Vice President for Student Affairs Eric Rivera, Chief Diversity Officer Aaron Bruce, Cross Cultural Center Director Tanis Starck, Associated Students representatives, and SDSU Color Guard. SDSU students, faculty, staff, alumni, family and friends are invited to walk in the contingent. A free, colorful Aztec Pride T-shirt will be provided for SDSU contingent participants to wear. (t-shirts only available while supplies last? ) SDSU paraphernalia (hats, signs, etc.) is encouraged. Recognized student organizations and other campus entities are welcome to bring their own banners.

    Where to Meet All participants should plan to arrive at the staging area between 9 AM and 10 AM. Student Life & Leadership will send an email to the address used to RSVP with the contingent number and staging location (near Normal Street and University Avenue) prior to the parade.

    Parking Carpooling is recommended. Ample free parking will be available at the Old Naval Hospital Parking Lot located on along Park Presidents Way (east side of Balboa Park). The Pride shuttle will begin running at 8:00 AM and will run 15-minutes. It will drop you off at the start of the parade route. At the end of the parade, shuttles will be available to take you back to the parking lot.  

    Pride Festival The first 15 SDSU students to sign up will receive one-day pass (a $15 value) to the Pride Festival. The passes will be distributed at the end of the parade. The festival is at Marston Point in Balboa Park and will be open Saturday from Noon - 10 PM and Sunday between 11 AM - 8 PM. The festival includes multiple stages of entertainment, 300 vendor booths, an art exhibit, cultural presentations and great food.  

    Standards of Excellence Points for Fraternities and Sororities The Standards of Excellence program provides for chapters to receive 1 point per participant (or for smaller chapters, 5 points for each 15% of your chapter), up to a maximum of 15 points, for participation in official SDSU contingents in community parades, including the LGBT Pride Parade.
