Lavender Graduation

Begun in 2009, Lavender Grad celebrates LGBTQIA students from all over the University who are graduating. They bring their families, friends and partners to this special event held annually in May at the Parma Payne Alumni Center.

Each graduate addresses the audience (of about 200-250 people) and receives a rainbow honor cord, graduation certificate and flowers.  Two LGBTQIA activists are honored at each event and share their insights.

Refreshments and group photos (when agreeable) follow. Lavender Grad is held in addition to the University’s other graduation ceremonies.  It is very popular and takes pre-planning to sign up!
