Michael R. Cunningham, Ph.D., has been named the dean of San Diego State University’s College of Business Administration.

Cunningham founded Cunningham Graphics International (CGII;NASDAQ) a very successful multinational graphics communications company and has taught management courses at SDSU since 2005. He previously taught at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and New York University.

“There is tremendous excitement about Michael Cunningham's appointment and I greatly look forward to working with him to advance our College of Business Administration,” said SDSU Provost Nancy Marlin.

Cunningham earned his Ph.D. and master’s degrees from New York University, and his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

I look forward to working alongside our alumni, board members and the local business community,” said Cunningham, who will begin June, 20. "The strong foundation built by our exceptional faculty, staff and students will help us to become best in class."

The Princeton Review ranked SDSU’s College of Business Administration one of the best undergraduate business programs in the nation.  The college is also ranked among the nation’s best graduate and undergraduate business programs by U.S. News & World Report.

Current dean Gail Naughton is leaving SDSU in order to focus on her work as CEO and chairman of the board of Histogen Inc., which she founded in 2007.
