Following Friday's tragedy in Newtown, Conn., the staff of San Diego State University’s Counseling and Psychological Services would like to encourage any SDSU student in need of support to call them at 619-594-5220.

“Even though Newtown Connecticut is thousands of miles away, a tragic event like this can have a profound emotional effect on all of us,” said Sandy Jorgensen-Funk, director of Counseling and Psychological Services at SDSU. “Students who are feeling impacted by this tragic event are encouraged to call our office.”

Therapists at SDSU are available by phone from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For students who need support after hours, there is 24-hour counseling available through the San Diego Access and Crisis Hotline at 888-724-7240.
