San Diego State University will host hundreds of high school counselors for a day-long conference on how to assist students transitioning to higher education during the 2014 California State University High School Counselor Conference on Monday, Sept. 29 at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union.

As part of an annual series of conferences, sponsored by the CSU, the event educates high school counselors through various workshops and speakers on information regarding CSU admissions, financial aid and college admission testing.

“SDSU is excited to host the CSU High School Counselor Conference and welcome back home many of the counselors who were once students and are now proud alumni,” said Sandra Cook, associate vice president for Enrollment Management at SDSU.

“As they step onto campus, they will witness firsthand the changes that are taking place and experience the momentum building on campus as SDSU gains recognition for its commitment to providing transformational experiences to students and improving graduation and retention rates. There has never been a more exciting time to be at SDSU than now.”

Individual workshops will offer counselors the opportunity to learn more about programs such as Educational Opportunity and Foster Youth Programs as well as NCAA eligibility changes for student athletes.
