San Diego State University is encouraging the campus community to take part in the Great California Shakeout, where participants can learn about how to protect themselves during an earthquake.
There are a variety of ways to participate:
- Review Seven Steps to Earthquake Safety with students and staff
- Remove or secure items from offices or classrooms that might fall and injure someone
- Develop or review department emergency plans and business continuity plans
- Check emergency supplies to make sure they are accessible and functional
- Register for SDSU Alert
Being prepared is the best way to ensure safety in case of an earthquake.
Emergency communications
During the shakeout, which begins at 10:16 a.m., the SDSU campus will not be holding official "drop, cover and hold" drills and no buildings will be evacuated. However, campus emergency communication resources will be tested, including the SDSU Alert text messaging system, the campus' emergency information line (866-794-8832), the
SDSU Homepage and
Urgent Page,
Facebook and
Twitter.
