The San Diego Press Club recognized KPBS journalists recently at the 41st Annual Excellence in Journalism Awards.
The award ceremony honored KPBS journalists for their work in television, radio, photography-video and integrated media. KPBS received awards in 13 categories and was also recognized for breaking the story about former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner in 2013.
In addition, KPBS’ investigative news partner inewsource received the “Best of Show” award in the Integrated Media category.
KPBS won eight first place awards in a broad range of categories.
In addition, KPBS Roundtable Host Mark Sauer won the Harold Keen Award for Outstanding Contributions in Journalism for his 40-year career in San Diego.
The entire KPBS news staff was also honored with “Best of Show” Wildcard award for their coverage of the Mayor Filner scandal.
The station also received four second place awards and two third place awards across a variety of categories.
