Emergency Shelter Exercise

The shelter exercise will take place in Peterson Gym from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7.

San Diego State University is holding an Emergency Shelter Exercise from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7 in Peterson Gym, as part of its ongoing emergency preparedness effort. All scheduled classes in the building will remain in session.

What to expect

The exercise will test and practice shelter setup, breakdown and operations, including preparation of Peterson Gym as a shelter site; distribution of equipment and supplies; communications; and consideration of mutual aid (for porta potties and showers).

SDSU Police and American Red Cross personnel will be in the vicinity of Peterson Gym for the duration of the drill which is expected to conclude by 4:30 p.m.

The university will be posting about the exercise on its Facebook and Twitter pages. There will also be a story on the SDSU Homepage linking to this SDSU NewsCenter story with details about the exercise.
