Here are some of SDSU’s top NewsCenter stories from the past month.

The month of August is an exciting time on Montezuma Mesa. On Monday, Aug. 29, San Diego State University kicked off the 2016-17 academic year by welcoming more than 30,000 students to campus, nearly 11,000 of which were new students.

In addition to the beginning of the school year, August proved to be a month of achievement and transformation for SDSU.

SDSU Among the Princeton Review’s Best Colleges

For the first time in history, SDSU was listed as one of the nation’s best institutions for undergraduate education by the Princeton Review. SDSU was rated highly for its admissions, academics, financial aid, quality of life and sustainability efforts.

What’s New at SDSU

As SDSU begins the new school year, returning students may notice new classmates, faculty and programs on campus. The university welcomed one of the most academically impressive freshman classes in history along with 51 new tenured and tenure-track faculty members.

Fall Campus Construction Update

Over the summer, crews moved forward on a number of construction and beautification projects at SDSU, including the Engineering and Interdisciplinary Sciences Complex (EIS), South Campus Plaza, Centennial Mall, the Cal Coast Credit Union Open Air Theatre and a new recreation field.

2016 Aztec Hall of Fame Class Announced

The SDSU Department of Athletics announced it will welcome a new class of five individuals into the Aztec Hall of Fame this fall. The class will be recognized at halftime of SDSU’s home football game against San Jose State on Friday, Oct. 21.

Arts Alive SDSU Signature Events

If you’re looking for interesting and entertaining events for the fall semester, look no further than Arts Alive SDSU, which announced its Fall 2016 season of Signature Events. These performing and visual arts events include offerings in film, musical theatre, Jazz, art, Shakespeare, and wind symphony.
