San Diego State University football is ranked No. 22 in the latest Associated Press poll. The Aztecs (3-0) are ranked for the first time this season and first time since finishing No. 25 in the 2016 final poll.

SDSU has 201 points in the poll, ahead of Utah (194), Oregon (158) and Louisiana State University (153) in the Top 25. No. 20 Florida (308) and No. 21 South Florida (272) are just ahead of SDSU. The Aztecs had 16 points in last week’s poll.

SDSU is also ranked No. 25 in the Amway Coaches Poll, with 141 points (up from 19 points a week ago), 64 points behind No. 24 Oregon (208).

SDSU is 3-0 for the second straight season and for just the third time over the last 36 years. The Aztecs are one of only two teams (the other being Clemson) to have at least one win over a Top 25 team this season, two victories over Power Five Conference programs and at least one road win at a Power Five university.

SDSU is coming off a 20-17 win over then–No. 19/19 Stanford on Saturday. It was the third straight win for SDSU over a Power Five Conference school as the Aztecs stopped the nine-game non-conference winning streak by the Cardinal. SDSU outgained Stanford, 358 yards to 238, and limited the Cardinal to just 18:46 of time of possession.

SDSU, which is 24-3 in its last 27 games, also has wins this year against UC Davis and at Arizona State University.

The two-time defending Mountain West champion Aztecs open league play at 5 p.m. MT (4 p.m. PT) on Saturday at Air Force.
