The San Diego State University Jewish Studies Program will host visiting Israeli feature film director and screenwriter Nir Bergman, who will give a lecture at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 16, in Scripps Cottage. Bergman is teaching a screenwriting class at SDSU this fall, and his appointment is made possible by the Israel Institute in Washington, D.C., and the Murray Galinson San Diego Israel Initiative at the Leichtag Foundation.

Bergman, one of Israel’s most acclaimed directors, has garnered awards at some of the most prestigious international film festivals. He is the co-creator of "Betipul" (translated to “In Treatment), the successful Israeli television series adapted for American audiences by HBO.

Bergman studied at the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School in Jerusalem, graduating with honors in 1998. His graduation film, "Sea Horse," received the Miki Albin Prize for Best Short Script at the International Haifa Film Festival.

The lecture is free and open to the public. Complimentary parking is available in Parking Structure 12, levels 4-8. For further information, please call 619-594-5185 or visit jewishstudies.sdsu.edu.
