Now boasting a 4-0 record including victories over No. 22 UCLA and UC Irvine, picked to win the Pac-12 and Big West Conferences in preseason polls, respectively, San Diego State University men's basketball made its 2020-21 season debut in the Associated Press (AP) Top 25 Poll, coming in at No. 24. The Aztecs garnered 123 points and is the only Mountain West Conference team in this week's poll.

Today's initial appearances in AP poll, on Dec. 7, is two days earlier than last year's team, which went on to reach No. 4 for a program-record five weeks before finishing the season at No. 6. In addition, this appearance, after the second week of competition, is the earliest week SDSU has appeared in the poll in a year in which it was not ranked in the preseason.

The Aztecs spent 15 weeks in the AP poll last year, the third most in a season for the program, trailing only the 2010-11 team, which was ranked for 19 weeks, and the 2013-14 team, which appeared in the poll for 16 weeks.

SDSU appears in the poll for the 82nd time since the start of the 2010-11 season, outdistancing all other California schools in weeks being ranked in that time frame.

The Aztecs look to continue their undefeated start to the season on Thursday, Dec. 10, when they play No. 23 Arizona State in Desert Financial Arena in Tempe, Arizona. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT and the game will be broadcast on FS1.
