From first day of class to last day to withdraw, keep these dates handy.
By SDSU News Team

As you navigate through the first weeks of classes, be sure to note the following important fall 2023 dates:

Aug. 21: First day of classes. Students will continue to be enrolled from course waitlists automatically as seats become available. If additional students can be accommodated beyond the published enrollment limit of a course, faculty can work with their department to increase the enrollment limit of their course.

Aug. 27: Last day of waitlist auto-enrollment. After this date, students can only add to a course via permission number.

Aug. 28 - Sept. 1: Sixth day of classes – tenth day of classes. During this period, enrollment in open seats is by permission and not automatic or guaranteed. Students wishing to enroll in a course during this period will need to contact the course instructor to acquire a permission number.

Aug. 30 at 11:59 p.m.: Last day for administrative drop. Faculty can request to administratively drop a student from their course through this date if the student has not satisfied course prerequisites or the student has not attended through the second class meeting.

Sept. 1 at 11:59 p.m.: Schedule Adjustment Deadline for the fall 2023 semester. Students will not be able to make changes to their schedules after this deadline. All students must make any of the following changes to their schedules by Sept. 1 at 11:59 p.m.:

September 18: Last day to submit a Petition for Late Schedule Adjustment requesting a fall 2023 course withdrawal without a "W" on the transcript. Any approved requests received after this date will result in a "W" on the transcript.

To view the official enrollment of a class, including waitlisted students, faculty must log into their Faculty Center in my.SDSU. The my.SDSU rosters are the official enrollment rosters for the course. Instructors should never add students to a class using Canvas, as this would not constitute official enrollment and the student would not earn academic credit for completing the course. Once a student is officially enrolled in my.SDSU, they will appear in the Canvas course roster within four hours. Instructional Technology Services Support is available to provide technical assistance with Canvas.
