SDSU Retirement Association Update
The SDSU Retirement Association provides an update on its recent activities.
Retirement Association Board member Terry O’Donnell, emeritus professor of the School of Music & Dance and the School of Theatre, Television & Film, was honored by Mortar Board for Outstanding Service to SDSU at the honor society's recent annual awards ceremony and brunch. Twenty current SDSU Retirement Association members have been honored and 10 of them were present at this year’s event.
A grand night out
Twenty-one musically inclined members enjoyed a delightful afternoon of a medley of Rogers and Hammerstein musical numbers from several of their musicals, produced by our SDSU School of Theatre, Television and Film. A Grand Night for Singing was a delightfully familiar, fun, professional production by the student candidates of the master of fine arts degree in musical theater.
This was a not-to-be-missed production enjoyed by 20 SDSU Retirement Association members who enjoyed, not only the production, but also wanted to support one more university function. The group even had their own reserved section in the Experimental Theatre.
Membership directory
Members should have received their annual membership directory. Rather than the usual Aztec red cover, this year’s directory was printed in a bright silver cover, honoring the association’s 25th anniversary. Included with the directory is a copy of Pat’s Patter, the president’s timely news and notes reminder.
The 23 members of the board of directors met on the usual 2nd Friday in November, but in a new venue. They ventured across campus where treasurer Dan Gilbreath reserved the SDSU Research Foundation's board room on the third floor of the Gateway building.
Annual holiday party
Invitations to the annual joint holiday party with the SDSU Women’s Association were recently mailed. This year’s party will be held at the Admiral Kidd Club on Friar’s Road.
