SDSU Retirement Association Update
The SDSU Retirement Association offers information on a See's Candy discount available to faculty and staff.
The annual holiday party, held jointly each year with the Women’s Association, was enjoyed by 83 members, spouses, partners and guests at the Admiral Baker Golf Club House on Friars Road.
Prime rib and chicken dinners were offered and the entertainment was provided by Karen Follingstad, professor of classical piano. Surprise soloist Norm Dessel, professor emeritus of natural science/physics, provided attendees with "Oh, Holy Night" and the evening ended with song sheets and a good old fashioned sing-a-long led by Rick Schulte, professor emeritus of psychology.
Discounted See's Candy
Those who ordered See’s Candy at the special 20 percent discount can pick them up from the SDSU Retirement Association office on Dec. 12 following a delivery by Henry Janssen, professor emeritus of political science. Janssen does this every year and the special rate is available to all SDSU employees year-round at the Rosecrans See’s Candy store. Simply show a staff/faculty-affiliated Red ID card at the store and they will honor the discount.
Future events
The annual business meeting and scholarship luncheon is scheduled for May 19, 2011, at Tom Ham’s restaurant on Harbor Island.
Future SDSU Retirement Association events include the Valentines’s Day luncheon on Feb. 14, the Borrego Desert retreat from March 21–24 and the SDSU Retirement Association’s 25th Silver Anniversary Luncheon on April 14.
