Scholarship application deadline approaching

The deadline for students to apply for one of the Association’s scholarships is Feb. 2. Each year, the association gives scholarships to students who are relatives of SDSU active or retired employees. Applications are filed through the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. Visit the association website for more information.

CSU-ERFA Foundation announces grant award program

Members of the SDSU Retirement Association are probably well aware that the group works closely with CSU-ERFA and its mission to follow and influence Sacramento bills that have a bearing on CSU retirees.

ERFA gives an annual rebate to association members who join ERFA, and the SDSU Retirement Association encourages membership because ERFA is fighting for CSU retirees' continued pension well-being, which is especially important during times of government cutbacks.

ERFA’s foundation recently announced this year’s grant award program, which makes awards to ERFA members for projects related to academic or retirement interests. More information, grant applications and guidelines can be downloaded from www.csuerfa.org or call the main office at 818-718-7996.

Valentine’s Day Luncheon

The association’s annual Valentine’s Day Luncheon plans are moving right along, with the event taking place Feb. 14 at the Bali Hai restaurant on Shelter Island. Check the association’s website http://retire.sdsu.edu for this and other events and much more  information about the association.

25th Silver Anniversary Celebration plans progressing

The committee planning this year's 25th anniversary celebration met last week to further the plans and events to be scheduled.

The special luncheon honoring charter members who have maintained their memberships during the ensuing 25 years will take place April 14 and will be held at the Carlton Oaks Country Club in Santee. A special 25th anniversary edition of the association newsletter, PostScript, will also be published with the history of the association’s beginning and the development of various annual events.
