Betsy Kinsley, chief of staff for the Office of the President, is leaving SDSU after three years to become the new chief of staff for the President’s Office at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Her last day is July 1.

Kinsley served on the president’s cabinet, meeting regularly with the provost, vice presidents and other members of the university. She also managed the operations of the Office of the President and the Office of Diversity.

Outgoing SDSU President Stephen L. Weber said Kinsley will be missed.

“Betsy is a balanced, wise and constructive member of San Diego State's team. I value her ability to maintain grace under pressure and to consistently place the success of our students as her overarching priority," Weber said. "Betsy has been a major asset to San Diego State, however Betsy has long hoped to be part of the San Luis Obispo community, and I’m confident Cal Poly will come to appreciate her as much as we do.”

Kinsley credited the SDSU community for her successful tenure at SDSU.

"San Diego State has been an amazing place to work and I hope that the friendships I have made will continue for
years to come," she said.  "Dr. Weber has been a superb role model and he taught me by his actions to focus on student success, a commitment to shared governance, and the pursuit of excellence, as guiding principles for my daily interactions.

"Thank you for giving me the opportunity to learn from the wonderful San Diego State community."
