With Aztec Student Union construction in full swing and the fall semester quickly approaching, Dining Services is ready to provide the campus community with an array of options during the absence of the Aztec Center food court.
“The goal of Dining Services during construction of the Aztec Student Union is to continue to provide the highest level of customer satisfaction,” said Paul Melchior, director of Aztec Shops Dining Services. “We have been working diligently to offer convenient and cost-effective dining options for the hard-working faculty and staff of San Diego State.”
Cuicacalli's 10-year anniversary
The Dining Services program is highlighted by the 10-year anniversary of the Cuicacalli Hall dining room during the upcoming school year. To celebrate, beginning Aug. 29, faculty and staff can enjoy the all-you-can-eat lunch buffet for $6.35 plus tax, the price from 10 years ago and down from the current price of $8.25 plus tax.
East Commons
There are also plans for daily deals at all East Commons vendors during non-peak hours. Additionally, the Aztec Market in East Commons will always have seven cashiers during the peak hours of 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
While the line may extend out the doors, it should never take customers more than two minutes to check out, Melchior said. Aztec Shops ambassadors will work the lines to help expedite the checkout process.
Aztecs should also be on the lookout for the Farmer’s Market along Campanile Mall on Thursdays.
Finally — and perhaps most importantly — the Starbucks full-service kiosk is now open in East Commons.
Look ahead
Aztec Shops is beginning to work on food vendors for Aztec Student Union. A restaurant/pub is expected to return when the new campus hub opens in the fall of 2013. There will also be two dining cafes and an Aztec Market.
