Lorraine Fitzsimmons and Sue Hadley from the School of Nursing were recognized by the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research (APTR) and the Healthy People 2020 Curriculum Task Force for excellence and innovation in teaching health promotion and disease prevention.

They were awarded a certificate of excellence for their educational model, "An Interdisciplinary Health and Wellness Clinic for Seniors: A Community Agency-Academic Institution Partnership."

Lorraine Fitzsimmons and Sue Hadley are co-founders of the SDSU Clinic at the Gary and Mary West Senior Community Center in San Diego, Calif.
