SDSU Writing Center Tutor
San Diego State University Writing Center
Wage: $15/hour

Description: Under supervision, instructional student assistants perform teaching, grading or tutoring duties for the majority of work hours in a given appointment in a given academic department or equivalent administrative unit over the course of an academic term.
Qualifications: Knowledge and abilities: Incumbents must possess the ability to learn and perform assigned work; work cooperatively with faculty, staff and other students; and accept responsibility. Completion of specific coursework may be required in order to teach, grade or tutor a course. Special qualification: admission or registration as a CSU student.
Applicants must possess the ability to perform the assigned work. Prior experience with tutoring or mentoring is highly desirable but not required. Applicants should possess the ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students and have experience with and knowledge of U.S. academic writing. Applicants must have a minimum of a 3.2 GPA.
Percentage or hours of appointment varies, depending on student demand and/or tutor availability (0 to 20 hours per week).

The center works with undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines to develop and extend their knowledge and performance of academic literacies through coaching from tutors who engage them in conversations about their writing and broaden their understanding of audience, genre, language and context.
Tech Support Intern
National Conflict Resolution Center

Description: We are looking for an intern to offer tech support for our training department. They would need to be available evenings and weekends. The intern would start Zoom sessions for trainers, support trainers with getting tech functions set up in Zoom meetings, create participant rosters, ensure that training participants complete surveys, and answer questions. For some workshops, they would stay for the duration of the session to assist with screen-sharing, chat box support and managing breakout rooms.
Position: Applicants must be able to explain Zoom features to participants and troubleshoot tech issues. Occasionally the intern would research and use other meeting platforms (Teams, Webex and Skype as needed). They would need to be prepared to manage tech needs on different meeting platforms and support data/evaluation team with entering trainee data.

Student Assistant – Instructional Technology Services One-Stop Support

Description: Instructional Technology Services (ITS) provides support and leadership to the university in the effective uses of academic technologies. We enhance learning, facilitate pedagogical research and support strategic initiatives in service of student success. ITS fosters collaboration and innovation with faculty and university stakeholders in the design, development and effective use of learning environments and educational media. There are 23 full-time staff members and 16 part-time student assistants.
Position: Under general supervision of the supervisor of One-Stop Support, student assistants help ITS staff in supporting instruction by way of faculty training, equipment checkout, maintenance of learning spaces, learning management system support and miscellaneous academic technologies support.
Duties:
- Guide faculty and staff in using instructional technologies such as Canvas, Zoom, Respondus and Mediasite (60% of time)
- Assist faculty in learning spaces and provide equipment troubleshooting (20%)
- Answer incoming general and technical questions via ServiceNow (10%)
- Perform equipment check-in/check-out procedures at ITS check-out counter (5%)
- Assist with various projects as needed (5%)
Minimum qualifications:
- Admission or registration as CSU student at least part-time.
- Must have a minimum GPA of 2.6.
- Must have at least 3 semesters before graduation.

Production Intern

Description: Rescue provides behavior change marketing services (or "social marketing") to government, nonprofit and corporate organizations. Rescue's current work focuses on tobacco, obesity, violence and alcohol prevention; the promotion of exercise, fresh foods and after-school programs; and other products and services that promote healthy living. Rescue’s behavior change campaigns focus on diverse populations within teen (13-17 years), young adult (18-26) and adult (18-plus) populations in both rural and urban areas, resulting in a vast array of campaign styles and strategies.
Position: We are looking for a dynamic, high=performing production Intern with experience in video production, video editing, production planning and support experience. The ideal candidate has a passion for behavior change and a history of attention to detail and is capable of providing solutions to complex problems.
Day-to-day activities include:
- Assisting production team with the planning of commercial videos
- Inputting cast and crew information into payroll vendor website
- Assisting with VO and on-camera casting efforts
- Providing assistance with Rescue’s digital asset management;
- Assisting with the creation and distribution of call sheets
- General support of video production and production teams on and off set.
Required qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience with video and still photo productions
- Time and task management skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Familiarity with the production and post-production process;
- Strong skills with Word, Excel and Google Docs, as well as the ability to use a variety of Mac software.
