Financial Aid and Scholarships

How Summer Aid Affects Your Eligibility in Other Semesters

Summer Aid — How it affects eligibility for fall and spring: Financial aid to attend summer session may be either remaining eligibility from the current academic year or an advance of your eligibility from the upcoming academic year, but may not be from both.

  • You may be considered for summer Pell Grant funding if you have remaining Pell Grant eligibility from 2016-17 because you were not enrolled full time during the academic year.

Summer Federal Work Study (FWS)

  • To participate in summer FWS, you must have been attending SDSU during the current academic year or intend to enroll in classes at SDSU the following academic year.
  • It is not necessary to attend summer school.
Important: If you are not enrolled in summer session, your summer earnings will affect the amount of financial aid for which you are eligible in the following academic year.

Using remaining loan eligibility from the current year for summer

If you did not borrow your full grade level or annual loan amount for 2016-17, your remaining loan eligibility may be included in your summer award.
