About the ISA

As a recognized student organization, ISA plans and coordinates a variety of programs and activities to enhance international understanding and friendship.

Our mission is to promote international understanding and cultural awareness on the SDSU campus and in the San Diego community. We represent the interests of international students on the Associated Student Council, SDSU's student government. We organize social programs to form a supportive and fun network of internationally minded students and faculty from the U.S. and abroad.

How to be Involved

Executive Board Fall 2020 - Spring 2021

President - Justyna Kolataj

About: My name's Justyna, I am a fourth-year double major in International Economics and Political Science as well as an International Student from Poland! I'm involved all around campus: I'm an SDSU Ambassador, FVP on College of Arts and Letters Student Council, a Gamma Phi Beta and I also volunteer off-campus as much as possible. I decided to become the President at ISA because I had discovered the passion that I had for the international community at SDSU and wanted to help provide those college students with resources, exposure, and opportunities that they often cannot fight for on their own. My goal this year is to help connect our students with each other, no matter where they're from or where they are located, through fun, meaningful programming and offering a safe space at ISA!

Vice President - Toby Graves-Morris

About: Hello everyone, I’m a fourth year Advertising Major from England. While you will most likely find me all over San Diego and Los Angeles working on my media projects, you can definitely find me at the ISD, or at the Tau Sigma Honor Society. I am also a graphic designer for our university’s newspaper, The Daily Aztec.

My biggest hobbies include classic cars, graphic design and videography. I spend a lot of my time trying to build up my media portfolio. I chose to be part of the ISA to have a community on campus to socialize with, and I am part of the executive board to build a bigger community.

Secretary - Kevin Twigg

About: My name is Kerrin Jennifer Twigg and I am an international student from South Africa. I am a junior pursuing a B.S. Microbiology, with a minor in Leadership Development. A fun fact about me is that I really enjoy art history and almost pursued this as my major.

This is my first semester involved with the ISA. I am also involved with Students for Action and Contemplation Chi Alpha on campus and have been an officer since my sophomore year. I joined the ISA as I grappled with the cultural and academic changes alone when I arrived in the U.S. I am passionate about helping other international students so that they do not need to feel isolated. I want to connect international students to other students, international or not, and to resources that can help them succeed, feel welcome, and that they belong.

Treasurer - Hien Mai

About: On campus I am involved in several organizations: The International Student Association, International Business Society, Finance and Investment Society A fun fact about me is that eating is my life. Feel free to message me so that we can hang out together and eat lots of food together! I hope I can also help other international students get involved not only with ISA, but also getting familiar with the campus both academically and socially.

Social Media Chair - Beatriz

About: I am a 22 year old senior studying Communication at SDSU. I am the Social Media chair for ISA. Last semester, I worked on-campus for the SDSU Admissions office’s Social Media where I ran the social media including an exclusive, Private Facebook Group for Fall 2020 International Admits. This semester, I work as a Web Assistant for KPBS and SDSU College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts. I am also in the Advertising and Photography clubs at SDSU!
