Educational Workshops & Info Sessions

SDSU offers a variety of educational workshops and information sessions for international students. Please check the ISC calendar for workshops offered by the ISC. 

General Employment Authorization Info Sessions

  • For F-1 Students: The ISC offers several F-1 Employment Authorization Info Sessions each semester where we discuss the rules for on-campus and off-campus employment/internships during your degree program and after your degree program. (Watch the presentation from 3/28/22.)
  • For J-1 Exchange Students: The ISC offers a J-1 Employment Authorization Info Session each semester. Students will learn how to extend their J-1 visa status for internships and how to apply for academic-based internships. (Learn more about Academic Training.)

Tax Info Session

  • This info session presents general information on U.S. income tax documents for international students and scholars. Participants also learn about the VITA program, and where they can go for additional tax assistance. OPT Application Review Sessions

  • The ISC offers OPT Application Review Sessions on a regular basis throughout the year. Students will attend an OPT Application Review Session as the first step in the OPT application process. Learn more about Optional Practical Training (OPT)

Career Services Workshops & Resources

  • Career Guide Handbook: This handbook is the complete career-readiness tool for undergraduates, graduates, and alumni. It will equip you with "soft skills" that employers value and that are important for a sustainable career. (Access the Career Guide Handbook.)
  • Handshake: Handshake is SDSU Career Services' powerful recruiting platform for SDSU students and alumni.
