Living in the U.S.

On-Campus Housing

The SDSU Housing and Residential Education Website offers on-campus housing for undergraduate and graduate students. Students choose to live on campus for a variety of reasons including convenience, proximity to campus, meeting friends, and fully experiencing the U.S. college tradition.

The demand for on-campus housing usually exceeds the spaces available, so you should apply as early as possible.

Early arrival

Most students move into their residential communities the weekend before classes start. However, as a new international student, you may need to move in earlier. To apply for Early Arrival Housing, visit the Housing and Residential Education Website.

How to apply for on-campus housing

Your first night in the U.S.

On-Campus housing does not provide pillows, sheets, blankets, and towels. If you plan to arrive in San Diego at night, we recommend staying in a hotel so that you do not need to bother with purchasing these items after your long flight. Find out about local hotel accommodations for early arrivals.
