International Student Mentor Program (ISMP) 

Goals of the Program:

• Foster intercultural exchange between students
• Connect international students to the SDSU community and familiarize them with SDSU resources
• Assist with international students’ cultural and academic transition to life at SDSU and San Diego 

As part of a support team, the IS Mentors encourage first year international students (mentees) to embrace their new learning environment, while recognizing the importance of overcoming the diverse challenges and demand of college life in order to successfully pursue their academic goals.

• Increase Cultural Competency: Learn from your mentee about their country and culture.
• Create a meaningful friendship
• Make a lasting impact on an international student
• Receive a Certificate of Completion (if all requirements are met)

Mentor Eligibility:

International and domestic students that have been at SDSU for at least 1 academic school year. Undergraduate students will be given priority.

Do you want to become a Mentee? 

All new undergraduate international students who would appreciate the guidance and support of an experienced SDSU student are eligible.
